The tourist resort town of Negril will come alive from February 1st to the 7th with the 17th staging of the annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash. It will be a week long celebration for the king of reggae music Robert Nesta Marley. This birthday bash is the brain-child of Clive Kubba Pringle owner of the MXIII Entertainment Centre and is being staged by MXIII Entertainment & the Negril Westend MSME in association with the Bob Marley Foundation.

The bash will kick off on Sunday February 1st with a Nyahbingi drumming presentation at the MXIII Entertainment centre at 6PM. Day two will take the form of a free street party dubbed Spiritz On The One Love Drive along the entertainment strip on the One Love Drive aka the Westend Road. Day 3 will feature the Sunset Reggae Show at the Negril Escape with the self proclaimed King of the dancehall Beenie Man and the Hiyah Grade Band. The admission fee will be US $25.

On day 4 the party moves to On the Rocks for special edition of Rocky Wednesdays. This is the hottest weekly party in Negril on the One Love Drive; admission will be US $5.  Day 5 will be the Marley Talent Competition at Mi Yard Restaurant & Bar on the One Love Drive; admission will be US $5.  Day 6 will see the Bob Marley Birthday Celebration taking place at MXIII Entertainment Centre. This show will feature several top cultural reggae acts such as the legendary Bunny Wailer, Luciano, Capleton, Anthony B and Etana. The line up will also feature several talented local acts such as Timmi Burrell, Tonya P, Ras Slick, Iyahblaaze, Ras Noble & Princess Tia. Admission will be US $25 at the gate; show time will be 9 PM.   

The seventh and final day will be a double header with a special buffet dinner and show at the Sea Star Inn, admission will be US $15. While the Bourbon Beach venue on the Norman Manley Blvd will host a special vintage showcase featuring Marcia Griffiths, Leroy Sibbles, Gregory Issacs and John Holt.
