The Rebellion began in mid-2014 with four individuals: Ayodhya Ouditt, Angeli Gajadhar, Daryl Dillon and Keir Roopnarine. These four found that they all had the same grievances with contemporary mas’: the expense, the exclusivity, the departure from that visceral connectivity that made us all human – which originally made mas’ so accessible.

Carnival used to be a commentary on the State, on Society and about our very humanity.

To right this, and to create a return to the deeper meaning of mas’, the Rebellion began.

We believe in story and spectacle. You will embody a character, an idea or a concept. Your costume will be one piece of a greater whole: an epic story told through bodies and motion; through colour, light and sound.

We believe in diversity. Trinidad and Tobago is a land of plenty. Plenty colours, plenty shapes and plenty sizes. No one is “not right” for our band! If you love our art and you love our costumes – you can be a Rebel! If you want to have a good time on the road – you can be a Rebel! Those are all the qualifications you need to join d Rebellion!
