The weekend long events started out with an ultra VIP invite only cocktail reception at the Renaissance Hotel in Plantation, FL. Once inside, you were pleasantly greeted and ushered into the event by friendly hosts passing beautiful ice sculptures highlighting #Carib Style. On our way we took the opportunity to stop for a quick pose with the night’s photographers who were ready and waiting for our personal photo shoot. The night’s activities began outside on a moonlit patio where you were quickly served with sweet Caribbean rum punch and a yummy chocolate fountain buffet fit enough to satisfy any sweet tooth. VIP guests included the Consular general for Haiti, top DJ’s LLCool Blaze & DJ Crown Prince along with Miss. Universe contestants Miss. Guyana, Miss Haiti, Miss. Trinidad & Tobago and the fan favorite Miss. Jamaica. I must say, these ladies were simply stunning, graceful and loved stopping for a #Selfie moment with anyone. The night’s activities also included a choreographed dance and words from the head of Aifos agency putting on the event and title sponsor and host NEXUS Networks.
Second up was “Carnival Rocks The Runway” hosted at
West Field Mall, in Fort Lauderdale. As the ladies got ready back stage,
the mall was booming with the sweet sounds of soca music causing
patrons from all backgrounds to stop and just take a “lil wine”... Old
or young, no one could resist! The event started a little late but it
was well worth it. Patrons got a chance to check out all the hottest
costumes available for Miami carnival 2015 from bands such as Generation
X (by the way, did you sign up with our private section 'MAS' as yet? Visit masmiami.mycarnivalbands.com), Euphoria, Jamborie Mas and many more. Ladies strutted the bands
sexiest Front line and section leader costumes full of feathers beads
& total glam! The highlight of the evening was the celebrity guest
model, Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell who surprised and stunned the crowd with her pink
and green wings and captivating smile. Fans also got a chance to take
selfies and pics with Miss. Jamaica Universe who was more than happy to
meet and greet everyone.
The weekend of events rounded up with
“Epicurean By Design” where patrons got a chance to view a sexy fashion
show while tasting rums hailing from Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and
Trinidad. Alongside the rums, world class Caribbean chefs competed for
the title of “Best plate” with the touring beauty queens as celebrity
guest judges. We got a chance to taste all the rums but didn’t receive
all the chef specialty dishes... definitely a bit disappointing as they
looked oh so delicious! In all the event wasn’t as well attended as
expected but the vibe was on point with host Jeanille Bonterre from
NEXUS networks spicing it up at every turn. With additional patrons,
this event could be a must see next year.
Overall, the concept and design of this event was fantastic and definitely got off to a great start. We can only expect it to get better in 2016 including even more Caribbean style.
