Port-of-Spain Trinidad. December 15, 2015 -
A bump in the road in 2015 will not be a deterrent for the Trinidad and TobagoFire Services (TTFS), as they again get ready to “Heat Up De place”with their hosting of Fire Fete 2016 – The Re-Ignition, on January 16th, 2016.Touted as a “Cooler Fete”,Fire Fete, which is known for being the first big fete annually on Trinidad and Tobago’s carnival calendar, is already creating a buzz as fete-goers warm up to the “Cooler” option.Going back to basics, the TTFS will be partnering with reputed event promotional stalwart company, Tropix Entertainment for their 2016 fete production.

Acting Fire Chief, Kenny Gopaul says the fete’s proceeds will go toward the development of each division of the Trinidad and Tobago fire service, to effect necessary enhancements to their services.

He wants the people to come out and support it this year as they usually do, and guarantees the fun will be immeasurable. Commenting on security for patrons, Acting Fire Chief Gopaul assured that nothing will be spared in ensuring that patrons feel safe in 2016. “We are mandated by the court of law to provide sufficient security personnel to man the fete. January 16th will be no different,” he said.

The undisputed ‘Fireman’himself Bunji Garlin will ignite the night, together withhis wife Fay-Ann Lyonsand the Asylum Vikings. Also keeping the flames ablaze will be Lyrikal, 5 Star Akil, Third Bass, Iwer George, Teddison John from St. Lucia and many other entertaining soca stars. Bunji Garlin has thrown his full support behind the event, saying he sees Fire Fete as a staple on the carnival calendar.

One organizer at Tropix Entertainment has indicated the desire to get feting back to what many remember it to be. “We’re going to be shaking things up a little with this cooler fete edition. We’ve never done this before but we know people really enjoy cooler fetes in T&T and we want the people to come out in their numbers and have a great time, like we all used to. Enough with the “stushness” as Third Bass has said, let us fete again!,” said the organizer.

There has been some public outbursts by people in the entertainment industry and otherwise, to have carnival return to its original form. For years, Fire Fete has delivered the elements of an authentic Carnival atmosphere and vibe and even with crowd numbers proving less than desired in recent years, organizers truly believe that this is a fete for the people- those who live and breathe the essence of a true Trinbago carnival.

Tickets for Fire Fete – The Re-ignition, are already on sale at popular ticket outlets for just $200. The Soca Drome at the Hasely Crawford Stadium is the venue and on show night, people can expect that all stops will be pulled. “We’re going for non stop vibes and energy, on stage and off stage, so prepare yourselves because only the fittest will survive,” said the event organizer.
