Port of Spain, Trinidad - August 15 2017:
Soca music will be well-represented in Europe during the month of August, as Trinbagonian-born superstar Farmer Nappy tours the continent in front of thousands of Soca fans. He kicked off a series of appearances with a live performance at Antilliaanse Feesten - the premier Caribbean festival in the heart of Belgium. The singer and songwriter, known for his smash hits such as “Big People Party”, “Flirt” and “My House”, took to the stage, alongside his band, De Red Boyz, and songster Marvay from Barbados.

Now in its 35th year, Antilliaanse Festeen draws a multitude of patrons on an annual basis to Belgium, enticing music lovers and festival goers with a wide range of musical selections from sundown to sunrise. Farmer Nappy performed alongside a host of music greats from the Caribbean and Latin American regions. Attendees were treated to other performances from popular artistes such as Jamaican Reggae Star Shaggy; Zouk legends Kassav from Guadeloupe; Prince of Reggaeton, J Alvarez, and the godfather of the Dominican meringue, Wilfrido Vargas.

Speaking just after his electric closing show last Friday in Belgium, Nappy, whose real name is Darryl Henry, was humbled by the opportunity to perform at the world-renowned Belgian event, as the only Soca act on the schedule for this year. “It’s my fourth time performing at Antilliaanse Feesten, so it’s a great feeling to not only represent Trinidad & Tobago, but our Caribbean culture and people as a whole.”

Having had the chance to perform with Machel Montano at the same festival over the years, Nappy was thrilled about being invited once again to perform – this time with his music band, De Red Boyz and Marvay. “I’ve always had great chemistry with Mikey (Hulsmeier, drummer) Scott (Galt, guitarist), and (Damian) Marvay, so being on the road together as a team is a blessing. Nothing beats the live sound of instruments on a big stage, so I feel honoured to bring a piece of “My House” to Europe. We definitely came to give Belgium and the rest of the world a weekend of Soca to remember.”

Antilliaanse Festeen took place on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th August 2017, where Farmer Nappy closed the concert on both nights. Following this, he, Marvay and De Red Boyz band will make pits stops in Germany, The Netherlands, and finally complete their European tour in London, England.
