Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. October 18th, 2023 -- When an artiste knows her ability, she never stops until the prize is won. Ahead of Carnival 2024, new soca music brings to the fore, a young, female entertainer who’s as ready as she’s ever been, to show the world just what she’s capable of.

Cherreece Bernard, best known by her stage name, Rreecey has teamed up with super songwriter, Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop, as she prepares to push hard into Carnival 2024. Based in the US, having migrated from Trinidad and Tobago in 2005, Rreecey now returns to her homeland, excited and hopeful for the embrace of her people.

Throughout her career, Rreecey has looked up to the late, Singing Sandra and soca hit makers, Bunji Garlin and Fay Ann Lyons. Her development in the music industry was guided to a great extent by Singing Sandra who she worked closely with during performances at Calypso Tents in New York. “I worked with Singing Sandra in 2014 and she showed me the ropes during that time,” explained the artiste, recalling that the Calypso matriarch would call her ‘daughter,’ much like she referred to many up-and-coming females in the local entertainment fraternity.

Now, armed with quite a bit of experience, having persevered in the Calypso tent arena in the US, the Belmont, Trinidad native has waded onto the soca scene. Her new single, ‘Auto Body,’ written by Shaft, is just a taste of what she plans to consistently deliver. “The song was produced by Lunatix Productions out of Trinidad and I’m really happy about it. I decided to rely on Shaft for a new sound, new energy, different vibe to the music,” she added, explaining that other songs delivered in the past, whether collaboratively with her partner in the business, Eggy Dan, or as a solo artiste, have been well received across the US. “We have a pretty strong support system in the US. We’ve performed at major carnival events, taking the stage alongside artistes like Patrice Roberts, Destra and Peter Ram, in different states like Philadelphia, Boston and of course, New York,” she said.

Now, set to unleash the new single before the end of October, Rreecey says she can’t wait to feel the energy of her Trini people. She will visit her homeland throughout the week ending October 28th, revved and ready to show all of T&T just how great an entertainer she is.
