New York, NY (June 18, 2009) – The Honorees for the seventh International Soca Awards have been released along with the website launch of www.socaawards.com.

The soca music art form can be accredited for producing queens and princesses that have constantly knocked down the barriers that were threatening to be a male dominating industry.   These ladies have honed in on their talents and demolished any doubts proving that women are a driving force that does not stand behind the lines as back-up, but command respect on the forefront of every stage.  Each lady has had rich careers in the Soca field and bring the fire each time to any performance.

The Soca Awards Organization, Inc. (SAO) honors the women of the Soca music industry for the seventh annual International Soca Awards (ISA).  The impact of women in Soca music, whether it is the pioneer Calypso Rose winning the Calypso Road March of 1977 to present day 2009 Road March Champion Fay-Ann Lyons, is without a doubt a remarkable one.  SAO would like to present the following women with deserving honors which by no means limits the talents to the title, but celebrates their many accomplishments by acknowledging them for the world to see.

Calypso Rose ----- SAO President's Award, the Colin Jackman's Award
Denyse Plummer ----- SAO Lifetime/ Achievement Award
Fay-Ann Lyons ----- SAO Hall of Fame Award
Singing Francine ----- SAO Legend Award
Singing Sandra ----- SAO Trustees Award
Ella Andell ----- SAO Trustees Award
Allison Henercy ----- SAO Technical Award

Currently, several islands are still bidding for the iSA 2009 ceremony. Anyone looking for updates can log on to www.socaawards.com. A very important element to look for is the voting aspect which starts on June 24th. The nominees would be listed and everyone would have an opportunity to vote for his or her favorite artist.
