The region has witnessed the expansion of the events sector into a large, vibrant, diversified industry made up of companies, professionals and individuals who produce some of the greatest events in the world. This is the impetus for the upcoming inaugural three-day conference and exposition from September 24-26, at the HYATT Regency Trinidad, titled: Eventology, produced by Unlimited Functions – a Division of ISLANDpeople in association with Xceptional Events.

The organisers, Derrick Lewis of Unlimited Functions along with Lisa Ghany of Xceptional Events, conceptualised Eventology some four years ago. They believed the time had come for event management professionals to meet in a common space to share intelligence, increase their knowledge and develop their genius.

Among the notable presenters are: Kevin Bilida the Founder of TLC Creative productions which is the lighting and special effects company for the hit TV shows: Dancing With the Stars, American Idol and the Los Angeles Lakers; world renowned event designer Sean De Freitas who was named among the 100 Most Influential People in Florida in 2005 by the Florida International magazine and was awarded the 2009 Top US Event Designer  by Catersource/Event Solutions Conference, Las Vegas; and 2007 Event Planner of the Year at the Spotlight Awards, Ruth Moyte Vice President of Extraordinary Events, who has done productions and conferences  for Mercedes, Siemens, UCLA, eOnline and Toyota.

A festive grand opening has been planned that will feature an international key-note speaker followed by a cocktail reception. This will precede two days of experiential learning sessions, ranging from event idea and concept generation to advanced planning, design and production.

An Event Services Expo will run concurrent to this and will comprise the offerings of various companies including: product demonstrations; latest event management software; new lighting design; fabric and floral treatments and much more.

Eventology is designed to create new opportunities for participants to enhance skills in hosting events such as: awards functions; gala dinners; dynamic product launches; team-building/motivational events; sporting events and family days; tourism-based events, culinary events, conferences/Seminars/Expo and themed parties, faith-based other social events.

Organisations, persons and groups that are interested in or operate within the event industry should participate as it will ultimately redound in an enhanced industry professional and hopefully trigger opportunities for additional revenue streams. Eventology targets: event management professionals; promotional and production companies; corporate communications specialists; marketing companies; advertising agencies; non-governmental organisations; budding event planners who operate at a micro level; wedding planners/designers; expo producers; suppliers of event-based products; food/ beverage companies and students aspiring to enter the industry.

Packages range from $1495.00 - $3495.00. VIP packages with special amenities are available. For further information interested persons should visit the Eventology website: or call the hotline: 738-3687.
