So it's that time again... sun is shining... weather is sweet! It's the second event for the Notting Hill 2009 Fete-Lympics© - Danclair and Friends All Inclusive "Trini Luau 2009" ... and last year the party (view coverage) was on like boiled corn! It was fabulous.. so fabulous, we used Trini Luau 2008 as an example of setting the bar for the all inclusives (in London) that were to follow ... "Who say fabulous?"

Now, the problem with last year being so fabulous is that Danclair and Friends raised their own bar, and therefore raised patrons expectations to a higher level!

Rolling up to Jasmine Studios on a sunny London afternoon, we were impressed. Greeted with a glass of rum punch and a sexy model in full carnival costume showering us with Hawaiian flowers... our first impressions were yes! Danclair and Friends do it again!

A quick walk through showed us that Jasmine Studios, officially a photography studio, was indeed a fabulous choice of venue - crisp white walls, simply decorated with a bar as you enter, a bar in the main room (dance area) and another bar set outside. The patio area was so spacious that there was room for a  big BBQ, some dancing jouvert devils and a hot rhythm section! Live iron in any fete always seem to add a lil' someting, someting! Now we must say the ladies were out in full effect too.  We spy a very sexy and well dressed crowd. And the fellas were most impressed with the talent! Darling!! With that said, we did receive a couple complaints from a couple smallies that there was a lack of good looking men ... hmmm??!! Can't win them all.

For the first few hours, this sexy crowd mingled and socialised whilst sipping on rum punch or choiced beverage... almost as if everyone was waiting for something to happen. Ah yes, the rhythm section pack up and suddenly we realise... but wait na?? The door to the main room closed and we cyah hear the music!! Well what de jail is this?? This carnival season right? This is just one week before Notting Hill Carnival right? What?  Wow... best we get some more drinks right so we could go hit that 'dancefloor' and get this party started. Ooops... hold on. "Could we get a white and Sprite please?" "Sorry, no white and sprite," comes the response from the friendly bar man. Hmm okay, "Vodka and pineapple please?" "Sorry, no pineapple juice.... and no 1919, no gin, no vodka," he rattles off. Hmmm okay, "What can we get?"... "Check the next bar!" Well we did.... we not drunk, we not drunk, we not drunk so say what you want! We checked all bars.... dark rum or beer was pretty much what was left and it was only just after 9pm. What?? There was definitely a limited drink selection and this was a big disappointment.

Anyways.... hold the phone, the food now reach and the next stop is to battle through the long line that now form because the curry reach!! There were two main food stations... 1) Curry and 2) Creole (BBQ chicken, peas, cassava, ackee & saltfish).

Okay, so lesson numero uno ... the venue was fabulous, the people come out looking sexxyy, the sun was shining and Danclair and Friends managed to pull that sophisticated, mixed and fun crowd ... so please don't let the food and drinks run out! It's a recession!! Partygoers want their money worth!

So you get the picture right? But we got to say one thing, those who got curry and beer had a ball ... those who got food and drinks had a blast ... even some who missed out on the food and drink still managed to get on bad in the main room. We were treated to the sweet sounds of DJ Big Tunes, Gladiators, and direct from Trinidad... Jugglers & Jet Lee (Arch Nemesis) on the decks playing all kinda hot hot carnival tunes that had the crowd pumping. Trini to de bone!!

Everybody got some carnival vibes from deep within (despite the food and drink situation)... everyone was having ah ball. The sexy ladies wine up on the wall.... and on the TJJ TV camera... a good save! Danclair, your loyal crowd brought the party alive and turned Trini Luau - 3rd edition - into a vibezzz success.

Now we want to bring back 'who say fabulous' for next year eh. So Danclair, when yuh coming with Trini Luau 4, have an unlimited supply of food and drink, keep the abundance of sexy ladies and definitely keep the vibezzz. We looking forward to the next Luau ... the return fabulous edition in 2010!
