Robinson Crusoe could only wish he was Shipwrecked this good!!!!! Shipwrecked all inclusive at the Fire Station was hands down the best fete for Notting Hill 2009 Fete-Lympics©  and hopefully next year it'll be just as good, but this year is a hard act to follow....

CROWD:
Either by design or default the ratio of men to women was staggering! If you couldn't get a wine in there, you can't get a wine anywhere! And as notorious as Trinidad is for it's beautiful women, we were not expecting to see that many stunning women so far from home.

VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
A stone throw from the Hammersmith and City tube stop, The Fire Station, is what it sounds like. A decommissioned fire station that's been converted into restaurant/bar. Spacious inside, with a nice little outdoor seating area at the back, patrons had plenty room to do dixie... and trust me not a square inch was wasted! A particular favourite for me was the bathroom outfitted with fire buckets for urinals, I got a particular kick out of it.... thought it was clever and in keeping with the theme. Even if you are not a seasoned London traveller, the tube makes getting around easy as, and on a personal note and for future reference to Notting Hill inductees..... follow the Trini flags and pretty women and you'll find your way every time!

VIBES:
It almost goes without saying, but where you got West Indians you got vibes. And Shipwrecked was no exception. It may not have been short pants, but no one let their Sunday best get in the way of a GREAT time. Even a music hick up couldn't kill the vibes - the music shut down due to technical difficulties and the crowd just kept on singing along as Devon Matthews (artist/dj) kept calling down the classic old time calypsoes. The vibe never dropped off!! We must large up all the DJs that represented, especially TJJ's very own D1 of Jam Masters who was heading down to Trini the next day.

FOOD & DRINKS:
The cuisine was Chinese or Creole. And they kept with Shipwrecked asiatic theme, even down to the Chinese take out boxes. Nice touch! Best of all, it was on ALL night, for those that needed sustenance, you could sweet 'n sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce, stir fry or fried rice it from start to finish. Early comers were treated to prawn crackers and Dim Sum for appetizers. Drinks were just as ubiquitous. The rum punch was a lil' disappointing, but every other poison was available from the fully stocked bar.

SERVICE:
Ladies took particular pleasure in the eye candy that was provided to serve the hors d' oeuvres. Not to mention buffed shooter boys that came standard with napkins for their awe struck fans. Fellas, there weren't any female equivalents (well then again, the smallies in the sailor outfits) but as was mentioned before talent was everywhere, so don't fret.

COST/VALUE:
At 40 pounds/quid, it was a steal!!!! 7 hours of quality food and drinks..... you can't beat that value for money with a stick.... enough said!
