We travelled through a rain storm, flooded streets, and threats of a thunderstorm to attend an evening of elegance and sophistication in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Trini Jungle Juice slowed it down this time for a good cause. Once we reached inside the venue, the entire atmosphere changed. We became oblivious to the rain on the outside. We arrived to a beautiful decor, decked out in all shades of pink and white, and carrying the Breast Cancer Awareness theme.

The guests were given mini “blinged out” awareness ribbons after making their $25 ticket donation upon their arrival. The rain kept the place from being ram, but those who came out were wearing pink. If not completely clad in pink, both women and men wore traces of pink to show their support. The venue was spacious and allowed attendees to move freely. There wasn’t a set of jirating and dancing going on. Few sat at the tables provided and others stood, socializing with the familiar faces in the room while served hors d’oeuvres, special pink dessert treats, and a complimentary pink cocktail. The bar was nicely stocked, but was not bombarded. Guests took it light on the drinks tonight.

The event was hosted by renowned media personality,"Queen of Caribbean Life & Travel" and first lady of Tempo, Jeanille Bonterre. The music was by DJ Anonymous and a guest appearance by Selector Kay GEE from Power 105.1FM. Other guests included musical talents Kevon Carter, Ricardo Mendoza, Shawn Ma$termind Noel, Khalilah, and Kerry d’ Drummer.

The night was calm with Breast cancer survival stories and poems being shared, along with a special thank you’s from Anika Thomas, the woman who organized this special night with Natalie. The crowd was really mellow and laid back, but their energy level rose a bit when Kerry d' Drummer battled Selector Kay GEE on the drums.

The proceeds from this event will be donated to the American Cancer Society 2009 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
