Avante garde, fashionably artistic and ridiculously couture – Dominicana Moda 2009 was indeed a fashion experience like no other in the Caribbean! From one of a kind showcase pieces to exquisitely designed lounges and nightly themed after parties, Dominicana Moda 2009 definitely pulled out all the stops! Ultra fab, ultra glam and ultra chic.

Dominicana Moda is the official fashion event of the Dominican Republic. The event was held at the prestigious and historically renowned Hotel Occidental El Embajador from October 19th to 24th 2009 and presented the very best in fashion from the Dominican Republic.  Currently in its fourth year, Dominicana Moda 2009 Fashion Week is organized by Mirka Morales, Miguel López, and Sócrates McKinney.

This fashion extravaganza consisted of 30 shows spread over 6 days commencing at 12:30pm each day and concluding at 10:00pm.  Collections from over 40 emerging and established designers were presented with the international segment dedicated to Caribbean designers and included the likes of our very own Meiling, NY based, Lois Samuels (Jamaica), 3rd Revolt (Barbados), David Andre (Haiti), Denis Devaed (Guadeloupe) and Ecliptica (Puerto Rico). Designs from Colombia, Chile and Spain were also featured alongside last season’s winner of Project Runway, Leanne Marshall. This year’s special guest designer was internationally renowned Venezuelan designer, Carolina Herrera.

Dominicana Moda 2009 was attended by the likes of International Designer, Oscar de la Renta, Ms. Universe 2003, Amelia Vega, International Model and Face of Lancôme, Arlenis Sosa, International Casting & Production Agent, Tyron Barrington, TV Producer, Kibwe McGann and Ms. Barbados World 2009, Leah Marville.
