It is Christmas time again in London and within the Caribbean circles the name Busspepper promotions will always be on the lips of the West Indians and their relevant cliques. Being six (6) years of age already, Busspepper has been the "iconic" party promotions for West Indians and tonight will be their second to last event for 2009. This being just my fourth (4th) Cuchi La La event, I'm entitled to having an unbiased and very experienced opinion about this party. Please read with caution - it's not for the weak at heart!
CROWD:
With every Busspepper Promotions events there are always the same faces, the same smiles and usually it is a splitting image of the previous two (2) or three (3) parties. However, Cuchi La La always has the power to bring out new faces and cause some old faces or veterans to resurface and show their immaculate faces. Busspepper always ensures that people are always dressed in "not too shabby" clothing, their "costly" shoes, or even their tightest pair of jeans ... oh and how can I forget ... the men who wear their velvet jackets (and some kitchen table cloth shirts) in the party or even the ones who have on their scarves. Always a metrosexual and very fashionable and trendy party ... brings a tear or entertainment to my eye. The girls are always very classy and wear their outfits (even though I saw some table cloth outfits) with pride and the ones who reveal their brasieres make every point to ensure that it is their most stylish brasiere whether it be from 32AA to 46GG ... Busspepper has it all!!!
VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
Abacus always brings a smile to the patrons of Busspepper's events because of the following reasons:
VIBES:
As I said earlier this is my fourth (4th) edition of Cuchi La La, and sadly, it was not the best out of the four (4).
Yes!! We got the early entertainment by Los Paranderos De Londres but ... *silence*
Yes!! We got the free ponche-creme and jiggy we got jiggy for the ponche-creme which was brilliant but ... *silence*
Yes!! We got the whole load of Christmas Tunes ... YAY!! Christmas Tunes ... AHHH ... but ... *silence*
Yes!! We got the HIT TUNES that you promised us ... but ... *silence*
Something is missing from Busspepper ... something has really gone ... something has deteriorated ... what happened?? Is it the venue? Is it the crowd? Is it the DJs? Is it the committee? ... What Is It?
To say it one statement .... The vibes tonight was there ... but then it LEFT! .... and it did NOT come back!
If you do dare, compare it to past years .... Cuchi La La 2008 ... Cuchi La La 2007 ....
FOOD/DRINK:
The usual Busspepper Chef was there - Hasan DeFour - and I do not need to rate his food - it is self explanatory - He has been the chef for Busspepper for the last three (3) years and I am yet to hear a complaint either from the crowds that put his food in their stomachs or even from myself the couple of times I have patronized his dishes. Tonight, being in the christmas spirit the menu was similar, however had an extra kick to it with the Christmas Cakes & Pastelles. Hoo-Ray for Promosa Corn!!
SERVICE:
I will never complain about the service received at Abacus - never! The door men each and every one of them knows me! I never have a hassle to get inside ... but then again, that's just me! I did not see any hassle for anyone to get inside the party tonight ... point! I always never have to wait for drinks at the bar when I am at Abacus - maybe I just know which position to always go to! ;-) Tonight, I did not see anybody have to wait long for a drink - but the bar was reasonably staffed and if not a bit too much for the event, nevertheless there was not a problem for people to receive their drinks ... point again! Food by Defour Caterers ... lines ... but that is because the food is tasty ... so you cannot score down for that ... so point again!
Overall ... service in Busspepper Promotions & Abacus tonight was inspirationally exciting.
COST/VALUE:
If your name was on the guest list then entry was £15.00 ... ALL NIGHT (this did not include the Christmas Dinner). So was £15.00 worth the party alone? I leave it up to the masses to decide ... the verdict is still not out on that one for me. On a lighter note, the cost is not expensive ... it is a usual night out in the "city". On the other side of the spectrum now, you could have paid £15.00 for Christmas Dinner & Dance (sounds like when we were in Form 5 ... Dinner & Dance Tickets) ... so for £15.00 you will get the tasty dishes of Hasan and you get to put on your outfit and prance and palance on the dance floors of Abacus. Was it worth it on this side of the spectrum ?? I leave it up to the masses again.
I have no comment ... BLAH!

Abacus always brings a smile to the patrons of Busspepper's events because of the following reasons:
- Very Central - easy to get to - easy to travel home from as well;
- Spacious Rooms - A working Air Condition Unit - A Cosy Atmosphere;
- Reasonably Priced Drinks & Friendly & Attractive Bar Staff; and finally
- West Indians like comfort ... so once it does not change ... we will always love the venue

Dear writer you're on point, I hope what I say will not be taken the wrong way, the crowd is always the same, the venue is nice and very accessible BUT when you have a theme to the event, some decorations are needed. As we all know Busspepper is known for moving around but have not been for some time for some reason. WHY?????
Vibes.... there was none or very little... which is up to the DJs to hype it up, which the first DJ did for some time and was besssssssssss, but the man after him was all over the place I did not know if to wine or put up a gun finger.. I was standing for the rest of the night.. jahhhh. Food.... big up to Hasan for the best food, I think most people just come for the food yes!! Man that cost........... its Christmas, a £10 on guest list all night could have been done more people might come out and £15 with Dinner yes... I hope that the promoter read this and do something about it... |
