We caught up with the lovely Trini Jacobs just as she finished her set at the Six Flags Great Adventure show in New Jersey. The child of artists Carl and Carol Jacobs, Trini Jacobs has collaborated with Beenie Man, Machel Montano, Tanto Metro and Sizzla just to name a few. The one, the only Queen of Soca, Alison Hinds! You know I had to catch one of my favorite singers in action at S.O.B.S in New York and I was willing to do it by any means necessary!  So straight from the airport fresh from London I went! Alison glittered and dazzled the crowd as usual leaving behind very happy concert goers and an even happier set of TJJers.

He's one of the most well known Caribbean DJs in the industry, but rarely do we get a chance to get an interview with him. Working with such stars as Sean Kingston, Rupee and Alison Hinds, it's no wonder this guy is on top of the game. Now in order to get this interview, Le Petit Juice and I risked out lives by climbing up a very rickety ladder to get to the DJ booth where our boy was playing so you know we had to make it good! 5 Minutes With the always wonderful and charming DJ Rudeboy starts .... Mix Juice coming to you straight from Notting Hill Carnival with a special 5 Minutes interview with one of Toronto’s premiere DJ’s, D’Bandit.  As I was jamming at the TRIBE UK fete, I couldn’t help but say to myself, “…But that music sweet! Who is that DJ?”  Look D’Bandit! In the midst of the showing of the costumes and the boisterous crowd singing along to chunes, I managed to squeeze in a couple of pictures and laughs with my favorite Grenadian DJ.

It was history in the making on July 12th 2008 at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey.  Machel Montano and Friends performed in front of the first ever sold out Six Flags show.  10.000 people filled the arena with flags in hand and smiles on their faces.  We caught up with Farmer Nappy amidst all the excitement right before he was going to go onstage for some conversation and a lot of laughs.

When you think about West Indian DJs in New York, one name that definitely comes to mind is Trinidadian DJ, Sounds4Life. Spinning wikid chunes every Thursday at Shorblu's Vice fete at Aura, Sounds4Life always knows how to get a session started! In the midst of all the whining and the drink waving, I snuck up to the DJ booth and got my interview, yelling questions into Sounds4Life's ear and laughing all the way through!

The man with d Pan, Dane Gulston! It's always a treat to see Pan playing sensation Dane in his element. From the time you hear that first note, you can feel the love, excitement and passion he has for his craft. The TJJ girls caught up with Dane and interviewed this very talented musician who creates his own stage as he dances with his instrument and shows off his command of improvisation and ability to make folks jam in their seats and on their feet!

TJJ was up front and center at Mr. Vegas "Mus Come A Road" Video Release Party at "Caribbean Thursdays" at Club Element in NYC and yuh know we had to put him in the interview hot seat. Surrounded by microphones and the flash of the cameras, we made our way through the crowd, (it's easy when your short!) and quickly got up front and center.
