Tuesday, November 11, 2008 – Kingston, Jamaica: Digicel, proud sponsor of West Indies cricket, today announced that it has purchased the broadcast rights for the three West Indies vs. Pakistan one day international matches (ODIs) taking place in Abu Dhabi on November 12th, 14th and 16th, which will be aired free to cricket fans on terrestrial TV across the Caribbean.
The West Indies Cricket Team arrived in Abu Dhabi with one goal in mind. Get the better of Pakistan in the three One-Day Internationals and take home the Fortune Trophy. It will be the first time Windies play at the 17 000-seater Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium and they will be looking to make a huge impression.

For a long time, the local Premier League has been suffering from lackluster play and a myriad of other issues. Sunday, October 5 – Kingston, Jamaica: Several members of Jamaica's 2008 medal-winning Beijing Olympics team were honoured on Saturday October 4 in a special ceremony at the National Stadium and awarded with the country's fifth highest National Honour, the Order of Distinction, Commander and Officer Class. The ceremony commenced the National Sports Gala sponsored by Digicel.

Wednesday, September 17; Kingston, Jamaica: The JFF announced yesterday, the appointment of former England International and Jamaican born, John Barnes as the new National Coach for the Senior Football Team. John Barnes will take up official duties on November 1 and will be in charge of the preparation of the national team for the Digicel Caribbean Cup (DCC) between December 1 to 15, the CONCACAF Gold Cup scheduled for June 2009, and the Final Round of World Cup Qualifiers in 2009, should Jamaica advance to this stage of the competition, the JFF will review Barnes' contract following the afore-mentioned events.
