Date: Sunday 14th May 2006 Location: Toronto Centre for the Arts, Toronto Promoters: Ajahmae Live Entertainment Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery All Fours Vs Dominos, Soca Vs Dancehall, Callaloo Bush Vs Dasheen Leaf, we could go on and on with the little differences that make Trinidadians and Jamaicans unique in their own way, but the best way to showcase these differences is in comedy, a little laughter never hurts anyone ... or does it??!! Some people cyah take jokes yuh know! The show was very well organized and started on time. On time by West Indian standards of course, only delayed by 15 mins due to the expected mingling and having a few drinks to start the evening off just outside the theatre at the lobby bar. Needless to say, with drink in hand and carrying on their own private comedy shows no one noticed the time, but when seating announcements were made, you could feel the anticipation for the funniest show ahead and a knowing of definitely having 'lock jaw' by the end of the night from laughing so much. The show's MC was Russell Peters, so yuh know there was a constant flow of jokes all night, all in between the performers. The laugh fest was carried through with some of the best Trinidadian and Jamaican comedians. Representing Trinidad were Jean Paul, Marc Trinidad and the Trinidad Queen of comedy herself Rachel Price and representing Jamaica were Ity & Feney Cat and Elva Ruddock. Both sides had the crowd begging for mercy to stop laughing so hard, and ah not being bias or anything buh you know who win de clash hands down ... rightto! Comedy Clash was not the only forum to showcase comedy talent that night, there were a couple of enterprising young ladies promoting their 2006 costume contribution to the Toronto Caribbean Connection band (Beyond the Horizon), a beautiful section called 'Pot of Gold' by Gin and Mel. Everyone who were interested were advised to visit the Mas Camp at 122 Howden Road Unit 5, Scarborough Ont, 416-288-8852. Nuff respect and huge special thank you to Jean Paul for allowing TJJ to roll though and catch de laughs. Next stop for the TJJ T-DOT party train ... Victoria Long Weekend action. Stay Safe for the long weekend and enjoy peoples! |
