Dore is located on Smith Street in a very hustle and bustle area of Downtown Brooklyn.
We were half expecting a parking issue - yes people, it is usually challenging
to find parking anywhere in NYC. Surprise! We discovered a great spot just one
short block away from the joint. Whoo hoo! Our ETA was 9pm and we were right on
time. The neighborhood is littered with bars and restaurants but we don't think
that Café Dore will have to worry about competition. We were
quite impressed upon entering. It was a mix of café chic mixed with urban
lounge with sounds of Morgan Heritage in concert playing in surround sound while
they could be seen on the giant plasma TV in the rear. It was quite early and
so the place wasn't rammed out and we were really able to check out the scene.
There were some folks enjoying dinner, a couple of girlfriends at the café
tables and some fellas at the bar, just chillin with a few cocktails. It
was also Café Dore's first night serving a new product called Ecstasy Brand
Liqueur. We headed straight to the bar of course where the gorgeous bartenders
hooked us up with some Ecstasy Brand cocktails... Vodka based liqueur infused
with pomegranate, apples and citrus. It also contains taurine, caffeine and ginseng
to put some pep in your step! In addition, it's 70 proof! Good stuff.... truss
;-) So we had a few. First a couple shots, then we followed with the Ecstasy Soda
(Ecstasy Brand and Club Soda and a twist of lemon). Nice!!! Kudos to the bartenders. Soon
the DJ arrived and after some tables were cleared away, he settled in to sweet
selection of smooth R&B. By this time TJJ was onto dinner. Maaaan that FOOD
WAS FAAANTASTIC!!! Coconut Salmon was recommended, we went with it and whoo hoo.
It was served with rice and peas and salad. The fish was perfection. The sauce
was rich and tasty, well seasoned. Mmmmmmmmm. I swear Café Dore, watch
out! Salmon is a huge TJJ favorite! We'll be back fuh sure. Hands down the best
salmon in BK. Special
thanks to Danny, Jason and Nigel for inviting Trini Jungle Juice. Peoples, if
you are ever in Brooklyn, check out Café Dore. |
