Yes, another year of Soca in July. Soca 4 Summer 3 - celebrating 20 years in the music industry for Mr. Neil Iwer George. At the Hasley Crawford Stadium, Iwer performed his hit tunes from over the years, and seeing that last night's crowd (at Kaiso 4 Summer) wanted more of Super Blue, he added Super to the cast for the 3rd installment of Soca 4 Summer. Super Blue came on stage during Iwer's performance to greet a crowd that was really delighted to see him. Both artists sang together on stage, and even shared the crowd, with Iwer taking the V.I.P section and Super taking the general admission crowd. During their performance, they saw Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, Senator the Honourable Joan Yuille-Williams, and they both jumped off the stage to greet her, even going as far as to sing to her. It was a really wonderful sight. At the end of that segment Iwer released his new name to the Hasley Crawford crowd... he will be now known as “The Boss”.

You may know Warrior Princess from the 91.9FM morning show, and may also know her song titled “Doh Beat Up”. The Princess came on stage and wuk up that crowd. She also had the Passa Passa dancers behind her doing what they do best (you must see photos). After her performance you could hear the crowd screaming, "Doh beat up! ... Doh beat up!" Then to call Warrior Princess back on stage, they were chanting, "Warrior .... Warrior!" With that you know she had to make her way back on stage to redeliver her tune.

Next, Lil Bitts came on stage singing all her hit tunes. From “Carnival Country” to “Bump”. Bitts also got one of the patrons to come up on stage and bump with her. I think he out wine her though! Then there was the God Fathers Asylum; Bunji Garlin, Ninjitsu and Scarface. Performing together on stage for merely 20-30 minutes before the God Mother herself, Faye-Ann Lyons Alvarez, arrived on stage mentioning how they always leave her to come on stage last, but she doesn't care!! Faye-Ann sang some of her popular tunes as she jumped and waved, energizing the crowd. Then you may or may not know her sister, Terry Lyons, the former lead vocalist for the band Triple X. Terry came on stage to share on the song “Party”, which is originally sung by Ms. Alysha and Faye-Ann. Then they were rejoined by Bunji, and the rest of the Asylum clan.

The concert was rounded off by Ziggy Rankin and some other local reggae artistes. I must say that although the morning of my birthday started off really hectic and frustrating, it ended off really nice. The show was safe and we all had fun! Now I personally believe the concert could have been organized a lot better, but there's still hope for next year! Looking forward to a bigger and better Soca 4 Summer 2008.
