This year the TJJ Fetealotathon® Blue Team was ready fuh dem, we movin' early.... who wanna show up after dark daz dey business! No time to waste, Carnival short and time to lime even shorter! We on the road by 2:30pm, ah tell yuh we ent makin no bad skylark. Yuh believe we still ain't reach the fete til 5:00pm! If yuh see traffic in Maracas, exasperated by construction on the already narrow road to the fete. At one point , the road to the party was reduced to one lane. Doh talk for traffic on the Eastern Main Road. Trini in the top five in the world for most cars per household and the infrastructure cannot keep up. My poor Trini is now foreign used and abused. The only thing that change since the mass influx of cheap foreign used cars, is that they not cheap anymore! There were a heck lot more cars this year, all parking lots ram and people starting to do some real madness, parking in all kinda bush, all in the name of lime! :-) So we finally park, entry into the fete was very quick. Always a good way to start off a lime, much respect to Kerry & Walt for taking care of the TJJ fam.

Right off the bat we see that many of the things we reported hearing people talk about last year (Beach House Carnival 2007) seemed to be addressed. For instance, the food was in a separate area of the fete. This year they made use of the massive expanse of estate, they really is no need for tents to be jam packed onto of each other causing various food lines to intersect. This year logistics really took a turn for the better. By now yuh know what kind of food to expect in an All Inclusive, so no need to go though the entire list again, but rest assured it was all there! However, I would be remiss not to single out the doubles man, lawwwwwd have mercy and compassion, Coura River doubles have to be the best doubles TJJ ever taste in the history of the Western hemisphere.

Last year they tried a live band in Beach House , breaking from the norm, but people felt that it took away from the ambiance of the fete, when we go Beach House we come to expect and appreciate more of a big lime, than a put the rag in the air and get ready to wave after 3 kinda deal, yuh know what ah mean right? So back to just the DJ's this year - XTC, Joy Juice and the "Trini Technician" Jus Jase. Real kicks when ah camera man throw down Jase equipment in the middle of he set, he real cuss but a little team work made the whole incident almost seamless to the crowd. Always nice to see DJ's covering for each other in a time of need ;-) The DJ's held it down nicely from start to finish, we can even remember watching the sun go down while XTC was bussin' down some ole skool Soca and a classic Rudder was playing right as a beautiful Trini sunset was gracing the sky (run the hammer). The system was on point too - no massive Dr. Hyde set - just two small banks of line arrays that was wukkin', especially for such a large venue. The only thing they really miss is that nobody play any rain songs despite the fact that the skies opened up on several occasions that evening. That woulda drive people crazy(ier)!!!

Looking at the massive crowd yuh can't help but wonder how much coconut water it would take to supply this fete? It is rare when we forgive a fete for running out of coconut water but a fete this big, they did well to keep it going late into the fete. We would really be off our rockers to excuse running out of Johnnie too however, men was thirsty by 8ish. That would probably be the only fault we could find on the night though. Other than that, despite the fact that this one keeps growing by leaps and bounds each year, you are pretty much guaranteed quality entertainment. It is, and from all appearances will remain a TJJ TnT Carnival staple and a must do event in the Fetealotathon®. Next year we leaving home 12:00 noon, we can't afford to miss a minute of this one!
