On Saturday January 12th 2008, Presentation College in association with the Rotary Club of Chaguanas presented "Soca Fusion" at the college grounds in Chaguanas. The event was the College and Rotary Club's annual fund raising Carnival All-Inclusive fete carded from 6 PM to 12 midnight.

Parking for the fete was well organized with the promoters taking full use of the services of the school's cadet force, ensuring easy parking in a safe and secured environment. There were also shuttles available to all patrons who so desired.

Partygoers arrived at the fete early and were treated to the sweet sounds of the Point Fortin Engine Room and live Tassa, which just set the tempo for the sizzling action that was soon to come. Hitting the stage first was the energetic chutney crossover band Melobugz featuring Andy Singh. The band most definitely held their end on stage and delivered a very formidable performance pleasing the crowd with their various selections. As the band wrapped their performance up, once again the Point Fortin Engine Room filled the air with the pulsating sounds of iron & steel, making the intermission gap between performances almost seem unnoticeable.

The lovable lunatic Crazy himself took the stage next much to the delight of patrons, as they sang along and waved their hands in the air to his many hits from both past and present. Crazy's spirited performances had him receiving many encores on the night as he returned on stage several times, thrilling his most welcoming audience.

Now the venue was well organized and equipped with many food stalls serving various tasty dishes that included Chinese, Creole and Indian cuisine, not too mention the ever so popular and usual crowd favourite Bake n Shark, which tonight was second rated as everyone knows in this fete, the Curry Duck gets the award!! And we're still thinking about how good the hot pholourie and fried shrimp wantons went down. Thumbs up to the chefs!! Food lines flowed freely for the entire night and partygoers definitely did not have to wait long in order to partake in the various delicacies.

After Crazy, the band Imij & Co. took the stage. Their performance on the night also pleased the masses sending the enthusiastic crowd into a soca frenzy, as they delivered all the Carnival 2k8 hits with Blaxx's "Breathless" totally dominating as a crowd favourite, sending a clear indication of its possible position in the race for the 2008 Road March. An intermission came once again before the band Melobugz made their encore performance for the night. During this second performance, the man himself Rakesh "Raja" Yankaran also appeared on stage. He continued to heat up the fete as he sang some of his popular Indian selections such as "Chalay", "Dulahin" and "Sasura". From his performance, Rakesh showed folks why they called him the “Raja” as he had the crowd in a delighted uproar.

As the night progressed the venue became more and more populated, but by no means did things ever get uncomfortable. Drinks continued to flow at the bars with easy access and absolutely no hustle, which was very much commendable. Patrons also got to eat to their hearts' content as there was more than enough food to go around. At the end of it all, it was definitely an exceptional fete held in a relaxing and safe environment; one in which any Carnival lover would have thoroughly enjoyed.
