Its Carnival Thursday and we HAVE to head to TRIBE free drinks mania, which was held at a new venue - Jean Pierre Complex. So after a superb and sexy party in Ortinola (Beach House), TriniJungleJuice headed down to the complex and promptly arrived at midnight - typical Trinidadian time to go a party - and all we could see are the patrons just strolling in the gates for their money's worth. Imagine people waiting by the gates because their friends still have tickets for them and on their way!!!! Man it was eager beaver-ness.

TRIBE has been known for their outstanding value in parties and tonight was not looking to disappoint the fans at all, at all, at all. For the fellas, there were the immaculately dressed and sexy body ladies, and for the ladies the fellas came out in their best outfits and fresh hair cuts just to take a piece of the cake!

The cleverly decorated complex was neatly packed but not too crowded at this time, so you could have well walked about, take a wine, hail out your favourite peeps, take a hug, organize a scene, the thing self ... just what a party needs, real people but decent space to mingle and inter tingle. You know how we Caribbean people love up each other good, good, good. May I say, the crowd remained like this for the entire night ... we never had problems walking through or just vybzing people ... it was good stuff!!! We definitely prefer this venue over the Queen's Park Oval.

We missed a performance from a band - I think it was either Roy Cape with Blaxx or it was Kes the Band ... not too sure. Bunji Garlin, Faye-Ann Lyons and The Asylum band then came on the stage. Performing all their hits, as well as, bringing onto the stage Ken Marlon Charles (K.M.C) and compounding the surprises with 'The King of The Dancehall' Beenie Man, the Asylum performed an exquisite forty five minutes of Soca mixed with Dancehall and had the patrons going mad.

Bunji and Beenie then decided to embark on a one-fi-one - yeah that's right - a clash - freestyle battle. I am not biased but I think they were both equally good, and at the end of the rounds, Bunji hailed Beenie Man as the definite King of the Dancehall arena, while Beenie praised Garlin as the baddest DJ in the Soca arena. Kudos to the two rasta artistes - most entertaining.

Up on stage next was Destra Garcia and the most interesting band Atlantik. Destra is still frontlining the band, and man she carries it well. She got her dancers and shizzle all in matching outfits and stuff ... it would be wrong to say that she does not put time and effort into her shing ding. Destra, ah loving yuh performance this year babe ... keep it up and definitely continue to "Free It Up"! You is good stuff ... Boop Boop Boop!!

The DJs (Sprang Int'l, DJ Dane of Radioactive to mention ah couple) for the night who played music throughout were undoubtedly on form with their choices of musical selections from various years of the soca industry and from all various sorts of artistes from all over the Caribbean. Big Up!!! You all kept the dance "dibby!"

All in one line - TRIBE ... acceptable music, best woman, culture, defiance to failure and ever ready to provide the public with absolute entertainment!!!! Kudos! We WILL see you next year and we looking for video coverage ... and lots of more good stuff ... just wait and see!!!

A TJJ Public Service Announcement:- If you plan on getting twisted with alco, please tell yuh frens not to leave ya sleeping on the ground in the fete (photo)!
