I want to see TRIBE in d air in d air! I want to see TRIBE in d air in d air! Wheyyyyy ... Miami Carnival we reach! It's Day 2 of the Miami Carnival 2008 Fetealotathon®, and we took off running.

It all started at TRIBE Carnival Thursday - Ignite Miami fete held at Frank‘s Energy Beach. My crew and I pulled up to what seemed to be a very quiet venue ... a casino! Mmm, I thought, a Soca fete in a casino? As we walked through to get to the back where the fete was being held, I heard Frank Sinatra's "My Way" and was a little taken back. Were we in the right place? We turned the corner, and BAM .... I started to see meh brethren and hear the slow building roar of the bass and bottles and spoons. Whew! Thank goodness! I was about to very much question where I was!

Okay, we reach inside and my feet are covered in sand ... wet sand ... I didn't mind as much as I thought I would have because it did help with the islandy Carnival vibe TRIBE was trying to create ("Soca in the Sand ~ Bacchanal on the Beach"). As I walked through the crowd, with the wet sand on my freshly pedicured feet, I saw many familiar smiling faces including TJJ reps from DC, ATL, NY, LA and Trinidad ... look massive! There were beautiful couches and canopy beds accenting the decor adding a touch of sexiness to the man made beach. So venue & ambiance - 9 out of 10.

At this point, not many people were dancing ... looks like Mix Juice was going to have to open up the dance floor. Sprang Int'l (DC) opened up the dance and kept the vibes nice throughout - "Feel Nas"!! Private Ryan took the baton and kept the pace going. Hoppie (Radioactive) also blessed the dance and had to pick up the pieces from the roadside bomb Mr. Slaughter detonated on the dance ... somebody coulda tell Slaughter the system was down during most of his performance and that he was not having the quality night we have come to expect from him.

Partygoers were dressed for the occassion in flowy dresses and airy pants and shirts. The music wasn't overpoweringly (yes it's a word) loud and the vibe was chill. Even though I was ready to get on bad, the sound system wasn't. So you had a beautiful & sexy crowd, a sweet venue and nice vibes all getting stiffled by a weak sound system. I was quite surprised to see that my make up hadn't run and I hadn't soaked through my clothing by the end of the night. Whoa ... could this be a fete first? No sweat at a TJJ Fetealotathon® event?

All in all, the vibes was nice. A few adjustments to the sound sytem and the bar service and TRIBE go be back on track for Ignite - Miami 2009! TJJ will be in the house for sure!
