Warning: The TJJ Surgeon General Has Determined that Sexy Women Are Dangerous to Your Health"

When we told you all last year to be sure to cop your Witco One Fete tickets early for 2008 because this was truly the ONE, we trust you listened because it was once again another SWEET fete!

TJJ spoke with a member of the TRIBE Events management team the night before about the increased price of admission from the $250TT range to now $450TT, since one of the advantages of Witco's fete has always been it's low price tag for it's high value of entertainment. We were told, "Yes the price has gone up, but keep in mind that you're getting 1 million dollars worth back from Witco!"

We arrived at the Oval around 7:30pm, and street parking was no longer an option. A convenient park in King George V park, which was almost to capacity (if even possible), then a quick stroll down Elizabeth St., and we were at the main entrance. Just outside the venue across the street, patrons were treated to the sweet sounds of tassa - a TRIBE signature. Entrance lines were flowing smoothly, and once inside, the first thing that stood out was the transformation of the Oval into a well organized festival city of food and drink stalls. The entire venue, including the main stage, was draped with red fabric and filled with hanging Chinese style lanterns creating a truly festive ambiance. There was even a fancy chandelier (photo) hanging one of of the tents in a special VIP area.... aye, real styles!

Before we talk about the drinks, food and entertainment provided at this All Inclusive, we MUST talk about the good looking people at this event.... especially the ladies!! Warning: The TJJ Surgeon General Has Determined that Sexy Women Are Dangerous to Your Health". Fashion in TnT has most certainly changed (for the better) over the past 10 years. We remember smallies only wearing a blue jeans with some simple spaghetti strap top (which they had a variety of colours in the same style) back in the day. TODAY.... it's NYC, London and Paris type fashion styles our beautiful Trini women are rockin'! Yes man, the ladies were looking so hot, our photographers had to shoot in full body mode all night long... gotta get the entire outfit!! And check this, one good fren of the jungle was spotted in an entirely different outfit towards the end of the night.... and no, she wasn't performing or anything! lol. See photos 3 and 4. We ent making this stuff up peoples!!

Okay, moving along. Feters were treated with a delightful array of West Indian delicacies.... Roast Bake & Buljhol, Hops & Black Pudding, Coocoo & Callaloo a mention a few dishes. And for yet another year, the Bar B Que Pork Ribs (photo) and Chicken Wings stall was a hit. And for those of you that didn't get any Pineapple Chow (photo) on the way to Maracas beach today, Witco had you covered. Time for our TJJ litmus test to determine the length of time it takes to get a drink. As always, you have to go to the bar a couple times, in different spots to make sure it wasn't a fluke! ;-) Witco passed this test with flying colors!! All night long, the wait was two minute or less. And since most partygoers had an agenda to drink, not having to spend half the night at the bar made this fete that much sweeter! Also, if cocktails (photo) were your choice of drink for the evening, this could be found on an elevated area in the middle of the venue.

The entertainment line up was HUGE as usual. We saw Bunji Garlin and the Asylum band, which now includes wife Faye Ann Lyons, heat things up. Faye Ann is an excellent fit to the Asylum band, adding to their energy. They sang all their new 2008 songs like "Mash Up" and "Road Call", and the feters really enjoyed the live panman who accompanied the band on stage for popular 2008 song "Firey". But it was the guest appearance by new comer Hunter ("Bring It"), that got a huge forward from the Oval crowd. "You could bring in ah bottle.... you could bring it in ah flask.... you can bring it in ah cup ... you can send it in ah glass ... AH WAAAAH ME RUM IN DE MORNING .... AH WAAAAH ME RUM IN DE EVENING!!!"

Following the Asylum band, came the #1 Soca band in TNT (or shall we say the world).... Machel Montano HD. The band comes with a huge price tag, but it's totally worth it! Soca fan just have an "Unconditional Love" for Machel Montano, and Machel usually wants to get to de next ting and "Make Love" to his fans. Now before he made love with the Witco crowd, he made sure to put the "Jumbie" in everyone, taking everyone from the top of the hill to the bottom of the valley ... "Blazin D Trail" in the Oval. Ricky T, Benjai and Patrice all added to heat. Patrice Roberts is definitely starting to make a strong mark in the business as her arsenal of music is getting stronger. Both "Mo Muk" and "Thunder Waist" 2008 releases have been doing quite well. This Wednesday (Jan 16th), Machel Montano HD will be having their Album Launch for 'Flame On' at the world famous Club Zen, and we're excited to hear the rest of their new material.

HD pulled the curtains down as the stage was lit up (photo), and that was pretty much the end of the event. Wait, sorry.... did someone say more live tassa? Partygoers grabbed a last drink or bite and danced to the sweet tassa riddim as they made their way home. We made a b-line to the doubles vendor (yes, there were hot doubles too).... "Hit meh everything, slight peppa!" And we even played it brave having some Häagen-Dazs ice cream after the doubles... TJJ have some iron cast stomachs, yes! lol. The popular Tiramisu flavour was recommended (photo).... and all we have to say is WOW!! Folks, you definitely got to try Häagen-Dazs Tiramisu ice cream!!! Trussssss us.

Witco, thanks again for having us. Keep up the great work! Gentle peoples, don't miss this one for 2009... talk done!

Still thinking about that Häagen-Dazs Tiramisu ice cream,
Chooks aka Daddy Juice

p.s. If you looking for someone to tell you jus how niceeeee Witco One Fete was this year, you can ask this most happy, drunken feter (photo)!! We not calling no names, right Hoppie? lol.
