Phew, imagine I almost miss out this fete. It was really a hard day at work for me and the party was on a Thursday from 2pm to 9pm. But for some reason I kept thinking that it was the other way around. So I am taking my cool time in the office studying what it is I wearing later, then link up with my girl to go to this jam session. Well seeing that I figured that I was wrong I ended up wearing noting fancy, my hair was in one and I went by myself. Surprisingly enough, I had a ball. I only got there in time (luckily) to take in the last performance of the night Shurwayne Winchester and Y.O.U.

What I first noticed upon arriving at Ortinola Estate, putting aside the music was the babbling brook on the other side of the Savannah. This place or should I say ranch was tucked away serenely in the valley, surrounded by trees and peacefulness. It really was a tremendous sight, it was beautiful.

Partygoers were very nice.. or really drunk!! Everyone was hugging and holding hands, and although I didn't know these people from Adam, they included me in the mix. There were conga lines everywhere!! I wasn't sure if it was regular Trini party vibes or if the carnival spirit was in air, but whatever it was, the next party they having.. I going!! (promoters take note)

Y.O.U was about to perform ... what can I say? People, you may think that I'm bias, and yes.. while that is a possibility, the band gave a splendiferous (my word) performance!! Maxi Priest came on and the crowd went into a frenzy. People were climbing on speakers just to get a closer look at the singer. The party finished promptly at 9:00 pm.

Now my next trouble was getting out of Ortinola. The road is very narrow that only one car can go at a time in that direction, so my transport waited for me at the bottom of the hill and I had to foot it down the hill in my 3 inch stilettos. Thankfully these really nice guys gave me a lift. I doubt it had anything to do with my really short shorts which I had on. Thanks for the lift guys!

Shangri La All Inclusive was nice. Knowing that the crowd next year will only get bigger and hopefully with the same kind of nice folks, we'll definitely be back.

Lece say: Please people too much people dying on the roads... take yuh time, drive safely and if yuh must drink.. have a designated driver or drink water. We all want to see Carnival 2k10. Peace!!!
