Gareth Shelton was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica and raised in St. Catherine between a small district in the rural country and Portmore. He Attended St. Catherine High School and concentrated his studies in the mechanical engineering field. Fox began honing his musical skills during high school in Jamaica but got his professional break months after migrating to New York City.

His first recording was “Come Boogie Down” with producer Peter Mckensie a veteran dancehall producer and owner of an independent label FM Force. The follow up, "Down in Jamaica" which featured Naturally, his sound system associate from LP International, was a tremendous hit. Gareth was on his way and the legend of Red Fox had begun. The story got better when Fox connected with "Sting International", DJ/producer, who was also responsible for diamond artists Shaggy among others.

Performing almost every other weekend at the famous Underground night Club hosted by New York/Caribbean radio legend, Daved Levy. Fox began to crossover to the Hip Hop market when “Lets Chill” featuring Naturally (Signet Records) and co-produced by Sting International began receiving major airplay from iconic Hip Hop DJ, DJ Red Alert.

Red Fox and Sting recorded several hits for independent labels Signet Records and Tanya Records. Tanya Records most noted release was the classic "Pose Off" with dancehall genius Screechy Dan.

Red Fox went on to form dancehall group, RUFF ENTRY Crew with other New York based dancehall artists such as Bajja Jedd, Nikey Fungus, Mr. Easy, Ravon, Screechy Dan and Shaggy.

At a tender age, Red Fox was laying the blueprint for the future. He toured constantly and was a staple act at every major New York nightclub including the legendary Act III, Underground, Bentley's, Red Zone, Biltmore Ballroom, Q-Club and quite a few Latino clubs. Fox also continue to build his buzz by touring universities across the United States. His Ruff Entry Crew continued to rock crowds with their numerous hits and high-energy performances.

Fox connected with managers Joe Mignon and super agent, Erskine Issac of"Famous Artist" agency. Erkine began booking Fox on shows with superstars of the day, Shabba Ranks, Supercat, Beres Hammond and numerous R & B and Hip Hop acts. Red Fox then teamed up with the legendary rap group Brand Nubians to record the "Black Starline" for their "In God We Trust" album. He showed his versatility by recording smash Calypso hit "Wine Yuh Body" with the king of Calypso, Arrow. Young Gareth continue to make history by being the first dancehall artist to perform on NBC’s hit late night show, Late Night with Jay Leno show with the legendary Wailing Souls.

It was only a matter of time before the majors became interested in the rising star. Fox would sign to major label, Elektra Records. His debut album "As A Matter of Fox" helped to bridge the gap between Dancehall and Hip Hop with hit tracks such as "Dem a Murderer" and "Ghetto Gospel”. The album also featured an all-star production team of DJ Premier, Dave Kelly, Bobby Digital, Mikey Bennett, Bobby Konders and Sting International.

Fox went on to release “Face The Fox” on VP Records. In 2005, he was featured on Alicia Keys’ "If It Ain’t You". He followed up with numerous hit singles on various independent labels. One of which was the dancehall classic "Bashment Party" with Ravon on Dave Kelly’s MAD HOUSE Records.

Red Fox was then invited to tour with reggae superstar Maxi Priest. The unusual chemistry worked magnificently. For more than 8 years, the duo toured the world performing through out South America, Asia , Australia, Africa, Europe etc.

As Fox moves on to the second chapter of his career he decided to focus on not only expand his reach as an artists but as a businessman. He has worked with global acts such popular Swedish rock group the Teady Bears (Atlantic Records) and Japanese Hip Hop legend DJ Honda. Recently Fox made appearances with the Teady Bears on the Coachella festival in Palm Spring California and the Carson Daily show on NBC. Fox is also featured on DJ Rob Dinero’s Reggae Sound Compilation album, which was exclusively released in Japan.

Red Fox is currently working on his third studio album. Which will include songs from legendary producer Sting International, DJ Honda, DJ Rob Dinero and others. Fox has also tackled the task of label owner by teaming up with former MTV Networks executive, Nolan Baynes to form Vibez Central Music. Fox’s first release on VCM is due out winter 2008.
