As 1Xtra BBC International Sounds of Soca own Alex Jordan rightly pointed out when she saw the TJJ Team in the Boat Yard just before the cruise, "Where ever there is Soca music, in the world, you'll find Trini Jungle Juice there!" It's 10:30 am Sunday morning, the first Sunday in August and we know there are a few choices of events to attend globally. However, in our books there really is ONLY ONE place to be on the first Sunday in August. The Booze Cruise in sweet Barbados! The backdrop is a pristine white sand beach with turquoise water (photo) superbly complimented by a cloudless sky with that sun that seems to shine just a little brighter in Barbados (photo). Talk about all the ingredients for the perfect lime.

The crowd outside the Boat Yard is as thick as the crown inside (photo), folks trying to buy that illusive "extra ticket". If yuh think Vale tickets hard tuh get, we put this at #1 for hard to get tickets for a Soca event, globally. Even Bajans doh know how to get tickets! Serious talk!! This is probably somehow directly related to the fact that the Booze Cruise crowd is one of the nicest crowds you could want to be with on a party boat for 5 hours. Gorgeous ladies appropriately attired in their swim wear and the gentlemen always respectful of the event and of others no matter how toasty they may get. On the inside of the Boat Yard, it was a pre-lime lime, with open bar and a coconut man cutting fresh nut to order (photo). HOW SWEET IS LIFE? Imagine by the time you board the boat, yuh not even in a rush to find the bar fuss yuh done prime up already :-)

When the fact that coconut water run out, is the only negative thing you can about an event, things nice. Why they aint bring the coconut man on d boat doh? There were a few bars on the boat all pretty well staffed, so drinks was flowin' nicely. Doh talk for the music, doh get us wrong, we love we Bajan music but yuh could only dance at 160 beats per minute for so long. Fortunately, this was not an issue on this cruise, the deejays selections were on point from start to finish mixing the Bajan hits with the non Bajan hits, old and new, fast and not so fast; the vibes was nice for the ENTIRE day. Folks get tuh wuk up, folks get tuh wine and the griners get tuh grine.... "who say bad man carrrr wuk, yuh wa see?" (Sicki tell dem how TJJ was wukkin' up... run "Badman") Just when you thought that you could not possibly ask for anything more, lunch was served! While boarding the boat you where handed a ticket for lunch, your choice of fish, steak or chicken. That was some classic Bajan lunch too, it taste like Kashka went by Tantie Euline and ask her to cook Sunday lunch for him and a bunch of his friends yes, hehe. The macaroni pui (Bajan for pie) was off the chain! As for the steak.... cooked to the way you request it. Let's jus say that we had people all up in our plates, talkin' bout... why did I get the chicken??!!

As usual, live entertainment got rolling around 2:30pm... after everyone's belly was nice and content. This year cruise-goers jammed to artists such as Mr. Dale, who sang his infectious "Soka Junkie" and Nard (who we refer to as the Soca Steve Erkle) who had everyone shouting "Cheese & Bread" as he entertained them with his 2007 hit song "Tempo". Booze Cruise always has the friends and family vibe to it, which really sets an event apart from the rest. Imagine yuh on the boat Rupee and Iwer grab the mic and buss down a wicked session while Emmanuel Lewis (yes Webster himself) and AJ (Extra TV, BET 106 & Park) fete on. Imagine you walking off the boat and studying next year already.

Mind you, to get out, the exit is back through the Boat Yard where there is a Booze Cruise After Party with Lil' Rick aka Hypa Dawg and others so the lime cyah done! Some chose to take a dip before the after party, who could resist that water! Definitely a TJJ top 3 events to attend globally, nuff said. Big up to Fayola, ZØB baby! See you next year Booze Cruise!
